Our place

has a history.

Our story began in 2014 in this originally family-owned house, which was unoccupied, until one of the family members decided to turn it into a guesthouse with 2 rooms initially. "Canelya" was first the guesthouse, then the creation of a garden-restaurant and a promotional space, on land that was then uncultivated (see background photo below).

These are places in constant evolution, with adjustments made over the months and years, depending on desires and available resources. The promotion of Africa is the common thread of this place, with materials, objects, and decoration far from what is imported, industrial, without history, and without benefit to local workers.

A unique and Pan-African decor. We mainly opt for local materials (Kanvo fabrics, Baoulé, Batik, Kente, Bogolan) made in Africa. Our furniture is also crafted by local artisans using recycled or local materials. Each room is unique and has its own story. Service quality is our priority. That is why the team is continuously trained to best meet your expectations. We also assist you with various inquiries for your visits and leisure activities in and around Cotonou.
